Found this sample of a business service management dashboard at micromuse. As they state, “By drawing more clearly than ever the lines that connect the business to the underlying infrastructure, [BSM dashboards] are enabling smarter business decision-making. The following screens show an example with Earthlink: “A BSM initiative around a few specific business-to-IT alignment challenges, as follows: – Link realtime customer subscription levels (IT data) with sales forecasts (business data) – Link system downtime information (IT data) with contact center call volume (business data) – Link scheduled system downtime (IT process) with ITIL change management initiative (business process). EarthLink chose to hone in on three primary “business services” subscription-based revenue, customer call center volume, and their ITIL change management initiative to manage initially, with plans to bring more business services, processes, and transactions under the BSM umbrella over time.”
You can see from the screenshots that you can drill down via a geographical slicing of data.
So what or who is The Dashboard Spy? As his about page states, The Dashboard Spy is just a guy interested in the design of business dashboards. He could not find any executive dashboard design source books and so set about creating his own. Finally convinced to post his extensive collection of dashboard screenshots online, he was amazed to find how popular it has become. If you have a nice screenshot to share, please send an email to info _at_ dashboardspy.com. Also check out The Dashboard Spy’s favorite books.
